Dynavox TC-5B Phono Preamplifier Silver

The TC-5B is the brand-new phono preamplifier for MM cartridges from Dynavox. It is used when a turntable is to be connected to an amplifier without a phono input, or when an amplifier's internal phono input does not meet your sound requirements. A phono preamplifier amplifies and equalises the extremely small signal of the turntable, preparing it for connection to an amplifier. These signals are very sensitive to all kinds of interference, which can show up as annoying noise or hum. The TC-5B was therefore designed not only for its sound but also to minimise such interference.

Besides its well-shielded, high-quality metal housing with solid 4 mm aluminium front and rear panels, the TC-5B has an external power supply to minimise interference. In addition, it offers a top feature unusual in its price class: you can switch its power supply from the mains adapter to battery operation (9 V block). Depending on the turntable and system set-up, this can make a very big difference in sound. A standard alkaline 9 V block (not included) lasts for approx. 40 hours of music.
