The Thorens TAB 1600 absorber base was specially developed to improve acoustic properties and prevent vibrations from the supporting surface. The base plate is made of dense MDF, additionally damped by a fabric layer with acoustic foam in a sandwich construction. This unique combination decouples the turntable from its support very effectively and prevents acoustic feedback, so sound quality is not negatively affected by vibrations and noise.
